Catalog/Tableaus/Poster/Postcard – Offset/Digital print

For her diploma project at the HGB Leipzig in 1982/83 photographer Christiane Eisler got accesss to a so-called "re-educational camp" in Crimmitschau in the former GDR. Teenagers who did not fit in the political system or had a socially difficult family background were put into those camps in order to be "transformed into communist personalities". They had to follow strict rules and work hard in factories for which they did not even get paid for. The repression of individual freedom & expression and the standardization of attitudes were one of the main purposes of those camps. 30 years later Eisler and journalist Gundula Lasch tried to track down the women who lived there when Eisler documented their daily life. Only four were willing to give interviews that became part of the catalog.

Catalog, tableaus, poster and postcards were created on the occasion of an exhibition at the Jugendwerkhof in Torgau during April/May 2012.
